Raksha Bandhan every year is celebrated usually in the month of August which is one of the celebrations of India which commemorates the pious relationship shared between brothers and sisters. Irrespective of the caste, creed, ethnicity, religion and the financial status, it is celebrated in every part of the country. No matter how rich or poor a person is, on this day he/ will have the similar zeal of the festivity. May be a person is living in a slum are or in the most affluent societies of the locality but he will have the same love for their sisters and brothers.

As per the Hindu mythology, Yamaraja is the Death God of Hindus and Yamuna or Yami is the twin sister of Yamraja! Both of them were born to Sarnanya and Vivasvant. As per the sculptures, it is said that, the tradition of tying Raksha thread was started from the day when Yami tied Rakhi on to Yamraj’s wrist so that he becomes immortal. Yamraj was so very much taken aback by this act of Yami that he announced on the very day that whosoever will tie a Rakhi on his wrist will automatically get blessed with a long life!

Balrama and Krishna were the brothers of Subhadra and she was very much affectionate to both of them! Subhadra was married to Arjuna and Abhimanyu was their son! This is also a very famous brother sister pair which has been famous in the Hindu mythology.

In the Hindu mythology, Kansa was considered as the dictator brother of Devaki and he was also the maternal uncle of Lord Krishna. Devaki was the mother of eight children and he came to know that her sister’s sons would be his killers then vowed to kill all of them.
